25th-28th March 2016 Beautiful area, adored Buttermere and all of the areas we visited The cottage was warm, cosy and private. We loved our stay. Thank you. Wed 23rd to Mon 28th March Lovely place, lovely people. Made it down to the beach and a little trip to Edinburgh. Defoe call in again. Loved getting the fire roaring & relaxing. Wonderful hosts, we will be back. Mon 14th – Wed 16th March ’16. Very relaxing stay in a beautiful location. We absolutely love the Lake District & this was the perfect place to stay & explore the North & Western Lakes. So much to see & do that we will be back for sure! Thank you Wayne & Jo. 12th & 13th of March 2016. We popped here on 12th noon on my Birthday & had a pleasant stay. We were surrounded by peaceful waters & I loved the birds chirping all the time. Well worth the price & hot tub was just awesome. Thank you Wayne & Jo. Hope we will visit again with more friends. Came here for my birthday break and it has been perfect. cottage had everything we needed and just a short walk to Gilcrux where there are 2 friendly pubs. Hot tub was a great extra. we will definitely be back. 🙂 Georgia and Joe. Manchester Had a lovely stay. Cottage very cosy and clean. Great to relax for a few days. Had a lovely time, very cosy and clean. Lovely relaxing setting, everything that you need to have a lovely relaxing experience- very friendly and helpful couple (Wayne and Jo). We will be back~ Thank you. 26th-28th Feb 2016. Beautiful area, great accommodation. Local pubs food first class. Get the log fire on, winter nights drift away….. 20/02/16 – 24/02/16. Amazing 4 night break – thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub & the amazing facilities at the cottage are exactly what you need for a relaxing holiday. Loved exploring Keswick & Buttermere with the dog, a warm welcome at the Dog & Gun in Keswick and lovely food. This is our second visit & we can’t wait for the next! Thank you Wayne & Jo – see you soon! 16th Feb ’16 – 3 nights. Fab 3 nights stay! The cottage was lovely and clean with lots of little kitchen essentials we had forgotten. The hot tub is an absolute must- the perfect way to end a busy day in a beautiful setting. We will certainly be seeing you again soon! 12 -17 February 2016. Yet again another lovely stay. Fortunately the weather was kind to us, even if a little cold. Thanks Jo for telling us about 2 new walks. We will be back again soon!! 12 – 15 February ’16. Another fantastic few days at our wee cottage in Gilcrux. This place was made just to chill out and relax. Thank you. x 12th & 13th February 2016. Such a pleasant stay in a lovely place. Lots of things to do around us, which Wayne & Jo were keen to help us with. Not to mention the hot tub- just perfect! We wished we could stay longer! And will be back. Many thanks, will recommend. 29th January to 1st February 2016. Had a lovely long weekend for my 50th birthday. Lovely romantic place. The hot tub is a must, even in the winter. Enjoyed the steam bath as well. Accommodation is gorgeous, will definitely be back! There’s nothing like a lovely log fire to warm you up in the cold evenings. Owners are very helpful & hot tub is highly recommended. Thank you. 18th Jan ’16 – 22nd Jan ’16. What a lovely idyllic setting! The cottage is very warm, cosy & comfortable & has everything you need. It was great to see a well equipped kitchen as we love to cook. Our morning tea & breakfasts were accompanied by the calming flow of the river Ellen & the charming views of grazing sheep. The Lake District is absolutely beautiful and we had a lovely walk…..We ended our day by enjoying a hydrotherapy which is a definite feature to try! Wayne & Jo are perfect hosts & we will definitely be back! 15th-17th January 2016. Lovely time, cottage is fantastic, hot tub is a great bonus! Will be returning in the summer! Thank you so much! xxx Fri 8th – Sun 10th Jan’ 2016. Would just like to thank you for a wonderful and welcoming stay this weekend. It was perfect and very homely. Loved the hot tub use and would thoroughly recommend you to anyone wanting to visit the lakes! Will be back later in the year. 3rd-6th Jan 2016 Lovely restful few days. Weather very mixed but we had a lovely time. Really enjoyed the hot tub and steam cubicle! Keswick and Buttermere very nice, drove over the Honister slate mine, pass beautiful. Cottage warm and cosy with everything we needed. Thank you jo for your help and walk recommendations! Lovely start to a New year. 2 – 4th Jan ’16. Had a lovely couple of days, would have liked to stay longer. Lovely cottage, very tranquil, just what we needed after Christmas and the New Year. 29 Dec – 1 Jan 2016. Our first time to this part of Cumbria & it has been the perfect place to celebrate our 1st Wedding Anniversary and New Yrs. Cottage was cosy, clean & quiet. Hot tub was fantastic- a perfect way to relax after a long walk. Wandered up to the Bar’n’Bistro & food was AMAZING! Highly recommended. They were so accommodating & even Bramble our Lab was welcome. Thanks for a brilliant stay. We will be back!! Nathan, Kerry & Bramble. Absolutely fabulous stay as always, thats why we keep coming back. Everything was great especially the hot tub! 🙂 Hope to be back again in the New Year. Thanks for the fab stay Jo & Wayne & all the best for 2016. 22nd-29th December 2015 We have had a lovely relaxing break over the past week. Very pleased with the Christmas tree, decorations, card and gift-thank you. Hot tub was great- hoping to get one eventually but won’t have a babbling beck nearby! Steam cabinet was great too. Great hospitality from Jo & Wayne and superb surroundings at Dykes Cottage. Enjoyed a fantastic Christmas dinner with Hal & Andy at the Bar’n’Bistro- you must try this place, food and atmosphere 11/10. So sad to be leaving and already booking our 2016 return. Who couldn’t be “in love” with this beautiful place, so tranquil and peaceful. We have had such a relaxing time as always, thanks Wayne & Jo! Autumn colours spectacular as in all the local scenery. We’ll be back again soon x. 🙂 30th Oct – 1st Nov 2015. PERFECT!!! Lovely cottage, fantastic location, the ideal place to relax. Wed 27th to Sat 31st October. A fabulous few days in the glorious Autumn Lakes! What colours!! Totally in love with the area- super, clean & comfortable cottage with great hosts. Thank you Jo & Wayne. Rob, Chris & Hugo. We really enjoyed our stay and exploring this part of the Lake District with it’s stunning views! The hot tub is a must! 🙂 We will definately be back! Fiona and Chris 24 – 26th October 2015. Beautiful setting and views, tried out the hot tub and it was fantastic! House was well equipped and cosy in such a picturesque area. We came for a weekend away to celebrate an Anniversary and it was perfect- I think this is about our twentieth visit. As usual a relaxing couple of days. Great sunday lunch at Barn. Will be back as long as health doesn’t stop. Keep up the good work Jo & Wayne. 23 – 25th October ’15. Lovely stay, thank you. Too short sadly, so will need to return. Amazing mini break and such a lovely little cottage for the two of us. All the locals are so friendly & lovely. Gutted we didn’t try the hot tub, but will hopefully be back next year! Buttermere is so beautiful and was a great recommendation- definately a must see. Wish we didn’t have to leave! Thanks so much! 12th – 16th October 2015. Perfect venue for our mini-moon; beautiful scenery, lovely cottage, excellent hosts. Highly recommend a walk around Buttermere; stunning! Wednesday @ Bar’n’Bistro is steak night- quality pub food! Thank you for the memories- we’ll be back! 13 -15th October ’15. Had a lovely time chilling out @ Ellen Hall. Visited our favorite haunt of Keswick, went to Buttermere & Honister Slate Mine. Weather very good as it always has been on our Gilcrux visits. Came here first 22 years ago on our Honeymoon & have been back several times since. Great place, x. 11th – 14th Oct 2015. What a fabulous find! Lovely little cottage in a stunning location. Central for visiting surrounding area. Used the local amenities a couple of times but had everthing we needed right here for a quiet meal & evening in. Thanks guys. 3rd – 5th October 2015. A lovely place to come to relax during our ‘Babymoon’- our last break away, just us, before the madness begins. Just what we needed- the perfect little cottage in the middle of nowhere 🙂 . Visited Carlisle & Cockermouth and spent the evenings cooking together- a rarity in our busy lives.
