20th-23rd February 2017 Fantastic cottage in great location, great pubs and walks. We also traveled much of the lake district by car and saw the amazing sights. We will definitely return, thank you Wayne and Jo 10th Feb, 7 nights. Our second time here and loved it just as much as the first. The cottage is lovely, very cosy. It’s the first time that we needed the log burner and it warmed the place so well. We went out and about every day with some great walks and views. Thank you Wayne and Jo, we will return. 10-12th February 2017 We had a lovely stay, an amazing meal at the mason’s arms. The locals are lovely and the cottages are just enough for two. Thank you. 10-12th February 2017 This is our second visit to Ellen hall and once again what a wonderful stay. managed to make use of the hot tub this time, definitely would recommend making use of this. Thank you for a relaxing weekend. xxx 10-12th February 2017 Thanks again for a relaxing cosy break away in the Dykes cottage. Enjoyed it just as much as we did our first time and i am sure that we will be back again. 10th-12th February 2017 What can we say- fabulous place, gorgeous cottage, friendly welcome even though you favoured JJ!! The hot tub was the icing on my 50th birthday cake- made our week. Recommend the Mason’s arms- very dog friendly for food and the Barn bistro. We intended to travel but stayed in our little cottage so we will travel on the way home and see some of the lake district. Thank you so much, we will be back xxx 8-9 Feb 2017 A very comfortable stay, we loved the hot tub. Weather ok for time of year, nice friendly hosts wayne and Jo. we will return and also inform our friends. Thank you. 3-5th February 2017 We had a lovely time here at Ellen Hall,very relaxing which was just what we needed! Cottages are a great size for two with beautiful views and the hot tub is a welcome treat. Will definitely recommend this place to others. Thanks 3rd Feb- 5th Feb 2017 Our first (and definitely not the last!) visit to Ellen Hall @Salkeld. We came with high hopes of what to expect and we weren’t disappointed! A lovely cottage in peaceful surroundings-perfect. The hot tub was a fantastic bonus. Thank you so much Jo and Wayne. 24 – 27th Jan ’17. Fabulous cosy cottage, just what we were looking for! The hot tub is a must try 🙂 . We can highly recommend the Mason’s Arms for food- lovely walk there and back under the stars! Thank you very much to Wayne and Jo- lovely, friendly hosts! 24th – 26th January 2017. Had a lovely break in the cottage. Enjoyed a day out at Keswick, followed by a relaxing night in the hot tub. The cottage was perfect, cosy, quaint and idyllically tranquil. We had an awesome time climbing Scafell Pike and the scenery en route was awesome. Thank you 🙂 2nd -4th Jan 2017 Loved our little cottage for a relaxing get away. Jo and Wayne are great and welcoming hosts. The local pub ‘The Masons Arms’ was a good location for food, pool and a chat with the landlord/locals and the hot tub was a fab addition. Thank you. 30th December-2nd January 2017 Thank you for another lovely stay for New Year. A perfect cottage for us, lovely to see friends and such a warm welcome as always. Hope you have a great 2017 and to see you again soon. 24th -30th December 2016. Our second visit to Ellen Hall, last Christmas was for the first time. Wonderful place to stay with excellent hosts, Jo and Wayne. Comfy, warm and homely. 28th-30th December A wonderful trip to end the year on a high. Coming from a nice but flat countryside of Essex to the breathtaking landscapes of the lake district was a real treat. Thank you Jo and Wayne for your lovely, helpful hospitality. If you fancy a jaw dropping drive head out on the B5289 and the lap round through Buttermere, all the way to Derwent water. log burner was outstanding feature, loved it. 18th – 21st December 2016. After a very stressful year we just wanted to lock ourselves away and relax in beautiful surroundings. Here in Dykes cottage that’s exactly what we got and more. Fantastic place. We’ll definately be back again soon. 🙂 5th – 9th December 2016. We have had such a relaxing break. We chose this place for our Honeymoon & will be returning as soon as possible. Jo & Wayne are so friendly & reliable, nothing is too much trouble! The steam room & hot tub are so relaxing. We ate at the Bar’n’Bistro which was beautiful and inexpensive too. Good location, service excellent and the hot tub was fab! Very friendly at the Barn Bistro- would recommend and will definately be coming back. Thanks Wayne & Jo. 🙂 18th-21st Nov ’16. 3 nights stay for my 24th Birthday. What a lovely treat- a calm and peaceful weekend for the two of us. Something we have both needed. Lovely hosts- great rustic cottage, that created a warm and welcome home for a long weekend away. Hot tub was just what we needed. The cottage felt better than home……Thank you, will 100% be back soon. xx 11th-13th Nov 2016. Just what the doctor ordered! A lovely stay in such a cosy place. I’m sure we’ll be back for a longer stay. x 4th November 2016, weekend visit. Really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. handy for the lakes and lovely pub up in the village (bar n bistro). We had a lovely three night stay, weather was glorious, great cottage, very peaceful, just what we needed. Champagne and chocolates in the hot tub was amazing. thank you for the memories, see you next time. Mark and Michelle. 24-28 October 2016 We came for our first wedding anniversary, to get away from all the stresses, thta’s exactly whats happened! Zeebo is in his element! He’s explored everywhere. The cottage is perfect, cosy and has everything we needed- and the hot tub finished off a wonderful few days. Thank you for allowing us to be your guests, Alana, Andrew and Zeebo. 14th – 16th Oct 2016. Log burner is awesome!!! Wonderful stay in lovely cottage. 1st time in the lake district and loved it, so peaceful, nice to come back and relax by the fire and enjoyed the hot tub. It was our wedding anniversary and it made it really special. 2nd Oct – 5th Oct 2016. Lovely cottage, nice and clean and warm. Very cosy, had a great relaxing time and lovely hosts. Will definitely recommend to family and friends and of course we will be back. We will be back Thanks Jo and Wayne. 28th Sept, 3 nights. This si our first visit and we will be returning. The cottage is lovely and Jo a very warm and friendly person. We have not been to the lakes before and really enjoyed it and the fact that everywhere is dog friendly was an extra bonus. Thanks for everything Jo. Had a lovely relaxing stay, it’s so nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Tia has loved the long walks through Cockermouth and along the beach at Allonby. Would highly recommend the Hot Tub. The Masons Arms is really good, the food is the best I’ve had in a while. Will be back soon. Thank you Jo and Wayne. We have had a lovely time. Had a great stay, idyllic and peaceful, fantastic place for walking dogs. Loved Cockermouth, had a very good meal at Dog & Gun in Keswick (dog friendly). Had a great walk round Ennerdale Lake and lots of other places too numerous to mention. Weather has been fine which was a plus when out and about. Thanks Jo & Wayne. The Stable cottage is a great place for a holiday. The lakes are beautiful, especially Loweswater and Buttermere. Thornthwaite is well worth a visit- good coffee & cake in the Gallery. Thank you Wayne and Jo for all your help with the quiet places to visit. 30th July – 1st August ’16. What a wonderful place to place to stay: comfy bed, relaxing location- a home from home atmosphere! Very warm welcome from Jo who was most helpful in every way. Accommodation very clean and well catered. Had spectacular days out with beautiful scenery. Scafell pike was the toughest, however Keswick and Buttermere are worth a visit for a more relaxing walk! P.S used the hot tub twice fab!! Look forward to returning soon. 28th 31st July.
