Loweswater

Published on December 30, 2013 by Wayne

This is the lovely, peaceful lake of Loweswater in the North-West of the National Park. With Grasmoor (852m) touching the clouds at the far eastern end and Darling Fell glowing in warm sun to the left.

Without the dimensions of other lakes and the boats and kayaks etc that attend them, it is truly a tranquil place with beautiful and inspiring scenery. Take a walk around it’s shores and along the fellsides above it, they are richly rewarding, with woods, streams, waterfalls, wildlife and pasture. Holme Wood and Holme Force are among the captivating attractions. Some days, especially during midweek, you might be the only people there- so serene!

It’s always good to have a great British pub at the end of such a satisfying adventure and the Kirkstile Inn in the nearby Loweswater village is just that. With great beers, food and usually a roaring open fire to welcome you, we cannot recommend it more.
