Cumbria and the Lake District

A predominantly rural county, Cumbria is considered one of the most beautiful regions of the UK and includes the whole of the Lake District, also known as The Lakes or Lakeland, the Eden Valley, the North Pennines, the Furness Peninsula, and part of the Yorkshire Dales.

Cumbria was formed from the old counties of Cumberland, Westmorland, part of North Lancashire, and part of North Yorkshire, and is now England’s second largest county in size. Inside is the Lake District National Park, an area some 30 miles across, containing England’s highest mountains (four over 3000 ft), and Englands biggest natural lakes. Also within Cumbria is a small part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park

15.10.18 to 19.10.18. Second year at Ellen Hall, loved it so much last year, we decided to make it a longer stay this year. We have to say, the stay here surpassed itself form last year(which we didn’t think was possible). So relaxing and inviting, a home away from home. Would recommend the Masons Arms, friendly owners and fantastic food! Thank you Jo and Wayne. xx
